ANy last words of advice? The place is a repair shop that does consignment and only wants $1000 for this! Worried about the vintage aspect ... what should I look out for? They said they would pop it open and make sure its in working order but if there is anything I can do to make sure all is well let me know!!! Besides try it out of course. I'm stoked!

I'd but it, buy it, then bite it! If it works, that's what you'd call a "steal." If it doesn't work, still a good deal unless the transformers are gone (highly unlikely). Bonus points if it has 6146b's instead of 6550's, but still an awesome amp. Just play it and move all the knobs and make sure everything works as it should. Then buy it and run like hell!

Vintage usually = repairable easily. Maybe you have to do it once you get it, but that means it can be done again, indefinitely.

Very easy to tell the difference between 6550's and 6146b's with those caps on the top of 6146b's. But he probably meant 6550's. Most Blue Lines have been changed over to them.

Got it!

Some of you may remember that I was about to have my V4 4x12 cab resided to 2 ohms. The guys at the shop said to leave it at 8 ohms. And that the vintage svt is 4 ohm only or higher and 2 could hurt it. O have heard here that 8 could hurt it.

I'm confused now!

tow ohms won't hurt an SVT at all (they have a 2 ohm tap), but i wouldn't run it at 8 ohms very often.

And I wouldn't run it at 8 ohms very loudly. It's when you start pushing it hard that the problems can occur.

The owner didnt know. It was on consignment. But they did tell me that 8 ohms was fine all day long.... and that 2 ohms is bad. Is 2 ohms bad?

It's built to take 2 ohms! Put a 4 ohm in the first speaker out and another in the second.
