Acme B2 with mini-head?

Sign in to disble this ad
Is anyone running either an Ibanez Promethean or Carvin BX500 into an Acme B2? Are these mini-heads providing enough power for the speaker? It's no kidding that they are hungry little buggers! Any other comments about the pairing?

I run a pair with a Carvin BX1500. As each cab is 4Ω that gives me about 450W into each cab one per channel. I never found them hungry. The amp before this, a DCM1000, fed each cabinet 350W (its RMS rating) and I never wanted for volume.

I do honestly believe that a pair is needed to gig with. I'd only use one for a basement rehearsal.

I had a B2 but dumped it due to it's inefficiency. It ate watts and didn't give much back.

IMO they are among the best speakers in the world. That said they are not for everyone. I gave them what they asked for and they gave me back everything I could wish for.
