For those who can't get to youtube:
In the video, Andy from Acme shows a few cabinets in various stages of production.
He knocks on the sides of the cabinet to indicate how resonant they are. First an empty one, then a braced one, then a braced one with stuffing and heavy coating on the outside. Finally he knocks on a finished cab.
I was kinda expecting him to play thru them, but he didn't.
The gist of it is the box itself is tight and quiet. After bracing the pitch is higher and decays quicker.

I think Greenboy addressed this some time ago, but finding that thread will be a task.
