"Acoust-X" Sound Damping Paint

Anybody have experience using this product on a DIY cabinet interior?:
Speaker Cabinet Coating - Acoust-X Sound Damping Coating

I am rebuilding an Avatar 2x10 in order to reduce the weight of the cabinet (if you're interested, here's the related thread: Light Weight Cab Rebuild).

Per Bill Fitzmaurice's recommendation I'll be using dowels on the cabinet inside for rigidity. I originally planned to line the interior with some kind of poly-fill, but the Acoust-X looks like it will be easier to work with. So, does it dampen sound as well as polly-fill?

I wouldn't think so. The damping inside the cabinet happens because of the thickness of the open-cell foam. I would think that stuff is more for quieting down an office space, keeping engine noise out of a car interior, etc.

In short, the mattress pad or quilt batting is cheap, proven to work well, and weighs nothing.

Well, the linked page says that it "helps reduce unwanted bounce back", which, I thought, was the primary reason for lining the interior to begin with. As I understand it, bounce back is the adverse effect that reflected mid frequencies inside the cabinet have on accurate production of bass frequencies.

You've been sold.

I don't buy it though.

Not yet, hence the original question.

No, not even close. It's OK for reducing vibrations of car doors.

Thanks, Bill. Poly-fill it is, then.

By the way, I'll post a build thread with pics for all you interested DIY'ers.
