Acoustic 220 vs 150

I have an old Acoustic 150 that I absolutely love. The tone is definitely me. I feel I could use a little bit more clean headroom, though.

An Acoustic 220 popped up for about the same price I could sell my 150 for. The 220 has 160watts-210 watts, I believe. The 150 is 125 watts. Do you think the difference would be negligible?

I'm not trying to be louder, just want a bit more clean headroom.

I've always felt, IMHO, the heads with the graphic eq were sounded inferior to the the just knobby ones. Just one man's opinion...and the opinion of my friend who sold them at Sam Ash back in the day.....

What the cab do you use?

Acoustic 106.

That's interesting about the knobs vs. graphic eq, though. Since the 370 is so highly regarded as the best one.

That's why I put 'IMHO'. Put the sound qualities of the 150 in a 300 watt box and see what happens!

I used to own that same head. I utilized the preamp out to drive another power amp/speaker for larger rooms. With all the small, 1U space poweramps out there, you might try that approach. One more piece of gear to haul, to be sure. I'm in the same boat, I have yet to find a pre I like more than a Mark IV, so I use it to drive a PLX1602. Leigh
