Acoustic 260 Mini - gig worthy?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just wondering if anyone has gigged with the Acoustic 260 Mini Stack. I play in a rock trio and am looking for a way to downsize.

Unfortunately I can't get them in Toronto, so I will end up buying based on reviews. The only other light/cost effective alternative is the Ampeg Micro stack.

My current rig is an old SUNN coliseum & 15" GK cab from the 80's. Sound is great, but a little to heavy.

Cheers

My local GC had one of these and it definitely caught my attention. Sadly, I didn't try it out....

I'e used mine in a multi-month restaurant gig, but there's no drummer or loud guitarists in my group; just two singers and an amplified acoustic guitar and me.

I was getting my B-810 when a guy bought two of the 260s.

What he says is that he keeps one in his office (he's the owner/boss) - one at home and another at a small bistro (BISTRO: def- where things cost more but aren't any better quality to eat, typically serving snobs and Yuppies) and he says he has enough for what he does.

He can't push it too hard though or it complains, but he says under 80% Vol, it has a sweet, olde school tone.

He also said that it must have a limiter/compressor in the circuit board as it gets distorted any higher the 80%, but that it still puts out even there if you can use that voice.

Just don't expect to play Wooten-Slap with it and you should be OK.

Good luck with it. I don't think it would be loud enough for a rock trio band. Check out other ones if you can.

Being in Canada too, I have no experience with the newer Acoustic stuff, but I have been using a Micro VR for a few months, and it has held its own at rehearsal with a solid drummer and a loud guitarist. Haven't played out live with it though

small amp

If no drummer or good pa support--get a Line 6 Studio 10.

Otherwise, I suggest a minimum of one 12" speaker with a couple hundred solid state watts or 50 tube watts.

I have one and really like it for what it is. Like was mentioned earlier, it would be fine for a low volume gig but I wouldn't even think about trying to compete with rock drums. Would work fine for a jazz gig or an acoustic gig.
