Acoustic 370

So, I have one of these things sitting around, and I am not sure what to do with it.
It always sounded great, punchy and ballsy. Loud as all that.
Silly heavy, though.
The 50 lb solid state amp days died for me when the roadie quit.

Kept the amp around for years while I played other rigs, honestly kinda forgot about it for a bit, and here we are.

So, now I have this silly heavy, aging thing laying around.
It's not mint, could use some work (mostly minor), but I still have a fondness for it, mostly sentimental. I have a smaller rig that has served me well for a few years now, and don't really need the 370 around, but, again, attachments are what they are.

What would you do?

Set it up in the music room and use it around the house occasionally...

i have a 370 and it's not going anywhere. i love the sound of it, and compared to my SVT, it seems as light as a feather.

If you think you can live without it, then sell it to someone who wants it. It'll sell quickly. But once they give you the money, they're not going to let you have it back so think about it and make sure that's what you want to do.

I had a 371 (370 amp w/301 18" folder horn cab) that I sold in maybe 1976. Wish I had it back. I couldn't move it any more, but still........wish I had it back. Think twice. Sleep on it for a while.

As far as I'm concerned...you snagged the golden ring when you purchased that. I bought a new one in the early 70's, used for many years - one of the very best amps I've ever had. They can go from clean to dirty, and from smooth to punch you so hard you puke (I used it with 2 Sunn folded horn cabs). IF I hadn't just purchased a new amp (where were you when I needed you?) - I'd be all over it and you. Do yerself a flavor and hang on to it - IT CANNOT BE REPLACED! IMO & IME that's one of the keepers of all time, a true classic that you'd regret selling for a looong time

100% agree, they are awesome heads. i have a 220 also which is sweet as well, although i think the 370 sounds "bigger".

the 370 is one of the few SS heads that ive heard that can keep up volume wise with an SVT. the best cheap vintage SS head around IMO.

This pic is from 1977....I had that amp for about 2 years. I don't really regret selling it, but it was definitely one of the best bass amps I've ever had. Don't sell it....you'll never replace it and it is a bona-fide collectors item, IMO...

Keep it. They're light compared to tube racks and tube heads. Mine feels pretty easy after owning a couple of 6 space ata style tube rack setups. Its got tone for days too. I prefer it over the 400+ and gks and peaveys I've owned. Not even a question.

not to derail the thread, but i really love all the old action shots from the 70s and 80s. seeing vintage instruments and amps before they were vintage is always cool to me.
