Acoustic 371 Restoration Project - Updated 2/1/2014
I'm in the middle of restoring a 1974-ish Acoustic 371 system. Always wanted one when I was a teenager, but couldn't afford it. Fast forward 40 years and I bought two of them in beaten condition.
Take a stroll over to the forum to see how it's progressing as of 2/1/2014.
Very cool. I had an Acoustic 400 when I was a teenager. That one brought back some good memories.
Some people can't imagine what I'd do with such a huge bass amp.
I'll set it up in my basement, play through it on occasion, treat it like a mysterious artifact from my psychedelic years (a la 2001 A Space Odyssey) and sell the other one for fun and profit.
Subscribing - great looking work so far!!
Good luck on the project, LOVED the 360/371's.......
Wish I could find a 301 cabinet near me at a reasonable price.......
Man, I wish my Ampeg re-finish had real wood instead of this particle board stuff. It would be so much easier to do!
Looks like a lot of fun and you are doing a great job.
These sort of cabs that are built so well, are pleasure to restore.
This is a memory lane trip for me. I bought one of these in 1972 or so, from Hyway Music on Rt. 18 in East Brunswick. Used it through most of the '70s, IIRC.
