Acoustic 405 cabinet

What would you folks say this cabinet is worth? It's the 4x12 acoustic with horns. I hardly ever see them for sale, so I can't get a good number to work with....any help would be appreciated.

A 4-12 with Horns? (plural) Is this a bass cab? I am not familar with this, but back in the '70's Acoustic offered guitar cabs with 12's and horns. When I saw the "Doors", their guitar player used one. (or more) Seems like he had 2 cabs.

the OP is talking about one of these:

it was considered a guitar (or bass) cabinet.

GuitarCabinetOrBassCabinet405 < Acoustic < Wiki

IMO, it wouldn't make that great of a bass cab since they didn't have all that much low end, but i guess it all depends on what you're going for.

BTW, Robbie Krieger (the doors guitarist) used two acoustic 260's which was an earlier version.

i know that when they got their acoustic deal, Ray Manzerek used them too. in that pic looks like he's got a couple of 360 bottoms up there too (for the rhodes key bass).

here's what he said in an interview in 2006:

"What’s your current amp rig?

My rigs have changed quite a bit over the years. The first amp I used with the Doors was a Magnatone with two 12" speakers. Then we got a deal with Acoustic, and I used their 260 model for a while. Ray was using one of their amps, too, but we both grew disenchanted with them after awhile. Then I started using a couple of Twin Reverbs that were rebuilt with JBL speakers in them by my friend, Vince Traenor, a crazy genius who also works on pipe organs. He likes to sneak into cathedrals and play the pipe organs. My current rig is two Fender Hot Rod DeVilles, with either 2x12 or 4x10 speaker cabs.'

I know The Doors apparently Sponsored UNIVOX, but i've never seen the two on stage at once. Not to mention, the time of this add was roughly 1971 or 70', IIRC.

I'd run it in a two amp rig where this would cover the dirty fuzzy amp. Not too concerned about how it handles lows, bit if it's that much of an issue I could look into getting new speakers.

Anyways, it's 4 ohms also, so I'm guessing more keyboard players used it, but I am a huge fan of 12's with bass so I'm probably going to snag it. My brother is the current owner though and wants a little over 300 for it, when I think 250 would be more fair.

I played through one of these supplied with the backline at a benefit not too long ago...I thought it sounded great. As a matter of fact, I've been trying to find one ever since to do exactly what you're talking about. $300 seems to be an average asking price for these in my experience.
