Acoustic Amp head settings (EQ)

Hi Tb this is my first thread here. I've been a member for a while and I absolutely love this site. I'm curious as to what fellow Acoustic users have their eq's set at. I've searched everywhere and had no luck finding anything though there's plenty of Acoustic threads. I play in a 3 piece progressive (we like to think ourselves) rock band, so imo, eqing is important in order to fill that sound. I love my b600h and the 2 b410's with it but I feel as if I could be eqing better. I know there are various factors that go into eqing. Generally I run everything at 12 oclock and boost a little at 340z and 800hz. Now the other day I was playing in a cover band and for one of the songs my sound was amazing. Little did I know was that I had mistakenly turned the 40hz knob to 3 oclock. that gave me the punch I've been looking for. I'm confused cause I know that freq. isn't mostly audible yet for some reason that gave me my punch rather then a 3oclock boost at 120hz, 340hz, or 800hz.

I know that the user manual for the heads and cabs have the 40hz knobs at 1-3 oclock which also kind of confuzzled me. I know in the end it's up to my ears and what sounds good in what room/venue, but I was curious if other people have found the same thing I have. I'd also just like to see what other people are doing with the lovely Acoustic gear

40 Hz better be audible, it's the freq. of the low E on your bass. By all means, turn up the 40 and 80 HZ a little. Scope down the 400 Hz. and enjoy what bass guitars should sound like. I'm a 15" speaker kinda guy. 10's frustrate the heck out of me.
Good luck, and don't quit experimenting.

Er, no, actually, 40hz isn't actually that audible in comparison to the overtones of that frequency.

The amount the fundamental is reproduced even by the instrument itself just isn't nearly as much as many people think it is.

I stand corrected. Sartori is right.
Maybe that's why you need to boost the 40-60Hz area. To reinforce the fundamental.

It's usually better to cut @ 40Hz, and boost above it, around 120Hz, or 180 Hz. This "lower midrange" is where all the low end punch lives. Those fundamentals are nothing but mud, and very difficult to reproduce with a normal, average bass rig.

own the 200watt head with 4x10 and 1x15. Gotten best results with volume at max ,Gain up till volume is right. Bass knobs little below half. Mid at Center and Highs little below half.
