Acoustic B100 - Can I do better?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am looking at upgrading from my little 15w Fender, and tried out a Acoustic B100. I could pick this up for 239 new. I have read some good reviews, but wanted to hear from other TBers who have played through this amp combo.

I am still a new bassist (less then 3 months) I do not gig yet, and will soon start jamming with others. Currently it's just me and the two four stringers in the garage. My budget is $300. I dont need to blow away the neighborhood, but I would like to sound better then the limits of the 15w.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

It's a decent 100w amp, but both the Carvin MB15 and GK MB15 are a step up in power, options, and sound. Both are 200w by themselves and both are light and compact. The Carvin can run with an 8 ohm extension for a full 250w stack. It's on sale now.

You can get way more amp if you scour Peavey combos used. Like the TKO combos. As for new, however, that isn't a bad deal. Also you can get the GK MB 15 combo for right around 300 I believe.

I have one, its a great amp. It has a very clean sound that doesnt add any little nuances to the sound like a lot of amps do. The controls will also give you much more control over your sound than the ones on the fender. I wouldn't suggest it for gigging, but if all your doing right now is jamming, then its perfect.
