Acoustic B100 or Fender Rumble 75?

Sign in to disble this ad
Looking for a new, solid state, combo amp... nothing over $500.
I will be mostly using it for rehearsal and small pubs.

I’ve been looking at an Acoustic B100 and the Fender Rumble 75. Haven't had the opportunity to try them out yet, but I’m swaying more towards the B100, purely because of the value... It has 100 watts at 4 ohms. Would this give better sound quality to that of 75 watts at 8 ohms? Or does this even matter?..
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Spend $350.00 and go for the B200 combo with the 115 + horn.

The Fender Rumble is good, but it's pretty low on the Wattage pole to make much noise and you should run with more headroom than 75 Watts anyway.

I personally use Acoustic, and although there are those who will turn their noses up at it - it is powerful and the warranty is great and any GC or MF will exchange it instantly if you bring it in.

I'm prejudiced. I like the Acoustics very much.

I've watched a few GKs come back dead - but that's what can happen to anything I guess.

I had a rough road at first with my B-450 combo, but I debugged it myself and it's a powerful player. Being the type of person who roots for the underdog, I think that there's a lot of snooty people who want to be able to brag about names and price tags.

The biggest complaint I have about Acoustic is that the 'factory' - which is really a warehouse - has no-one who cares about you as a consumer and will lie and prolly laugh about it at the water cooler during their next break.

Don't let that worry you - since GC and MF are the sole agents for Acoustic and they take them back without a whimper or eyeblink if something's wrong. I also bought the GC-Pro-Coverage Insurance so they have me on their back for a few more years yet.

The warehouse wouldn't urinate on your if you were on fire though. I still think that's better than GK or Ampeg since you have to ship them their own equipment to repair - if they think it's something they did and not you.

Somehow - Oh, I dunnow - I like the availability of a GC in most decent sized cities for walk-in coverage and replacements.

SurferJoe46 makes great points and as a former Acoustic owner myself, I believe they are an underrated value in today' competitive bass amp market. However, I'd give serious thought to the GK MB-115. Also 200 watts, but at roughly half the cab weight. It

is a lot easier to haul in and out of a car. I have the 210 and it influenced my decision in purchasing it. Audition both at your local GC and decide for yourself. If your ceiling is $500 I'd use as much of it as you can. You'll appreciate it later, especially if you play live. Good luck!

Get the GK MB115 for sure. Once you have more cash get an extension cab and you are golden.

As far as the Acoustic vs Fender, I'd go for the Acoustic. I've jammed thru a Fender Rumble 100 and its okay but nothing special. I sometimes use a Fender Rumble 15 and the tone is very blah. Gonna sell that thing soon.
