Acoustic B200H blowing fuses

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

I bought an Acoustic B200H solid state bass head a couple years ago brand new and played with it at numerous gigs all over Seatlle and had no problems what so ever. Now Im not playing with it very much any more since this last Summer so its been sitting in my garage over this past winter and I never used it once, which was probably a big mistake, but last night I went to practice with it and I plugged in my bass and turned it on, the blue light came on but I was only getting a very low distorted signal and then suddenly the amp started to shut off and on for about 4-5 times sparatically, and then it just died. So then I checked the fuse in the power input in the back and it had been blown. So replaced it, turned the amp on, and it blew another one. Im just wondering if there are any tech's out there that could give me some direction. I dont have the kind of income to just take something in to get it looked at but I am pretty technically inclined, but Im kinda stumped on this one. Im thinking maybe the coil got some moisture in it (all though it is covered with plastic). Thanks!

Open that thing up and re-seat several times every connector you can find. Wide temperature and humidity variations can accelerate corrosion. Especially bad if the equipment is in an attached garage when the door is routinely getting opened and closed in winter. And if you have an effects loop, wipe clean the NC contacts on the effects-return jack.

Take it to GC with the receipt. They've been good about making good on these amps.
