Acoustic B200H line out

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Acoustic B200H and I love the sound but for some gigs it doesn't have enough power. I also have a Crown XLS202 that can be bridged. Can I power the Crown with the line out on the Acoustic for more power? Tedward

I assume the Crown will power additional cabs. I don't know for sure, but I'd think that it should work.

Yes, the Crown will power a cabinet. Would I still need to have the Acoustic power a cabinet or can I just run an 8 ohm load on it with a resister? Thanks

You can use the Acoustic as a (very heavy) pre-amp by taking the line out into the power amp. The Acoustic doesn't need to be powering any cabinets.

Are you aware that the B-200H is just a head, not a combo?

Sure. It will be the power amp supplying power to the cabs, not the Acoustic.

That specific question was asked, and I was answering it.

My rhetorical still stands: 'Do you realize that this is just a head and not a combo?', because it isn't very heavy at all.

It may NOT be a micro head, but it isn't all that heavy.

It is certainly heavier than any other preamp that I have ever used. Therefore, it is a heavy preamp. OK, maybe the use of the word "very" was a mistake. I own one, I know all about its weight. Based on the manual, it is 23 lbs. No, it's not an SVT, but it's certainly not light.

Regardless of its weight, and to answer the original poster, it can certainly be used by connecting the line out XLR to a power amp. You could also use the preamp out 1/4". Try either to find the best results.

So, I can bypass the speaker out on the Acoustic and power the speaker cab with the Crown? Tedward

Diagram your lineup - this is getting muddy now.

Try this. Acoustic Direct Out --> Power Amp Input --> Power Amp Output --> Cabinet.

No need to have anything plugged into the speaker outs of the Acoustic. You can also try using the Effects Send jack to the Power Amp.

That's how I thought it should go. I need to work on my communication skills. Thanks! Tedward
