Acoustic B450 Sounding bad

Sign in to disble this ad
So I bought my acoustic b450 bass combo from guitar center about 3 months ago. I didn't buy the gc repair warranty because I had absolutely no more money, and now i regret it because they would have replaced the amp with a new in stock model.

When i brought it home, cranked it to about 2 o'clock and played it, and there was sort of a flapping/vibrating ugly thing going on. I assumed it might be just my bass sounding bad, and maybe something in the band room vibrating making noise

A couple months later I replaced the bass with a slightly used mm Fender jazz bass, and the rig sounded amazing.
Now I'm hearing a significant loss of tone. The cable is new, and I had the bass completely inspected in and out with no problems.

The tone is pretty flat, and I hear a weird vibrating/flapping sound at the top of the amp when I play the E string. I saw a forum similar to this problem talking about the wiring being bad in these amps.

I should and probably will send it away to acoustic but I would hate to lose the practice time and shows played with my band. Anyone have any thoughts on this problem?

Wire is now hitting the back of a speaker cone. Remove 10" speaker and move wire away from speaker cone.

PS: More than one post on the same question is a no no.

One driver has a bad connex, and a lot of the time you are running a single driver.

Pull the upper driver and fix the spade connex on the lugs on the individual driver connections.

It did it to me and several others who thought there was something wrong with the cab when there really isn't.

Acoustic still has never responded to this problem and you might as well fix it yourself as have them put more defective spade connectors on the cab again.

THEY NEVER LEARN AND REALLY THEY ONLY BLOODY THEIR OWN NOSE BY BEING SUCH BUTT HEADS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. (BIG letters for Acoustic to see)

Not trying to have bad forum etiquette, I actually posted once but thought the thread didn't go through (Just became a member a couple days ago) until I noticed that threads require approval. Thanks for the advice, I'll see whats up. THe only thing is that won't I void my warranty if I open it myself? What if something happens in the next year and I could get free repair had I not voided the thing

The way I understand it (I may be wrong) GC has a replacement policy on the Acoustic amps for one year from purchase. You bring it in,demonstrate a problem, they replace it on the spot. Ask them. All they can say is no.

PS: As long as you bought it new.

Ya I've already asked them about it, they said the only way they could replace it is through acoustic at this point. Had I bought the warranty through GC i'd be able to replace it with an in stock model
