Acoustic Bass: what type of amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up a Thunderchief CB10. My rig for the past year has been a Yorkville 4x10 with an Ashdown 300 Mag head. I'm fairly certain I can use it because the only acoustic amps I know of are for guitars. Unfortunately the rig is in my friend's basement so I can't just plug in and go by ear at the moment. So my question is simply: can I use my acoustic with this rig, or do I need an acoustic amp?

Any bass amp will be fine.

Any amp with a good mid eq will do nicely. GB Shuttles are good as is Mesa Walkabout. Ime.

Yeah I think you'll find your rig sound great with your Thunderchief.

When playing my electric basses I'm usually very selective about what amps I like, but my ABG seems to sound awesome with most any quality amp/cab, or even plugged straight into the PA.

If you'll be playing your ABG with a loud-ish band, You'll prolly need one of those rubber soundhole covers to avoid feeding back...

GB shuttle head with fEARful 12/6 is amazing. Acoustic Image also makes a great amp for acoustic bass, but their cabs are weak. It would also be great with a fEARful. Fishman Platinum preamp is a must-have.
