Acoustic with jbl's

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys

I got this old acoustic 408(4x15") cab with eminence speakers in it.
But i would like to try some jbl's....

I got an ekstreamly great deal on some jbl e140-8's.
Are these good sounding for this kind of cabinet?

What would be the best old jbl model to use in this cab?

Cheers!

You'd need a fork lift to move it.

Go to this forum and have a look around. A 408 cab weighs around 150 pounds with the stock speakers and adding a set of e140s will add considerable to that weight - but if you're willing to haul it around I think it should sound pretty amazing. There are people who've put that same speaker into their cabs with good result and you'll find them on the Acoustic Forum.

if you're going with JBL's, i think it would sound better with K140's. plus it would be about 28lbs lighter than the E's

Thanks! I'm on that forum too, but i will hear with the wiseheads over there hehe.

I know about the weight issues, but i really dont care about weight hehe.

But why do you think the k140's would sound better than the e-140's?

i've had both and i prefer the sound of the alnico magnet K's. i find them to be smoother sounding speakers, and that's why i have three 2x15 cabs with K140's in them.
