How have they jumped the shark? They've almost always made guitar amps.

Has Ampeg jumped the shark too? They're doing almost the exact same thing...

Seeing as how the PF500 has been the best selling amp in the world since it came out, and seeing how the SVT is by far the world's most popular rig to rent out through backline companies, call me crazy but I'd say there's a lot of people who do.

At any rate, it's really dopey to think that a company that makes bass amps jumped the shark because they also make guitar amps. Ampeg and Acoustic have always made both.

Acoustic started out mostly making guitar amps..

It was a Guitar player (Robby Kreiger) that really put ACC on the map back in the day.

And i think certain people here forget Ampeg started out with a lot of Accordion amps...

So what's prompted you Surfer Joe to say they've jumped the shark? Don't like the aesthetics? Onboard effects not your thing?

What I don't get is how have they "jumped the shark" again? What was the first time?

I don't believe I've ever seen an Acoustic, or any other brand, of guitar or bass or even accordion amplifiers jump a shark. Is it painful for the shark?

Not to mention the fact that it's not an "Acoustic" guitar rig without the horn........

So the term "jumping the shark" comes from Happy Days when interest in the show was waning and the writers went with something kinda crazy to try to drum up some attention.

With that in mind, SurferJoe, I believe you might have just "jumped the shark" with this thread.

An Acoustic guitar amplifier jumping, or perhaps jumping over, a shark (the OP is unclear on the details). I didn't see it, either.

It's a brilliant move. Acoustic sells a ton of "starter" bass gear at Guitar Centers/Musicians Friend. Now they can do the same with a Guitar Amp. They should double their profit margin in a year.
