acoustic vs ampeg question

got an ampeg PF-350 yesterday. Why would my acoustic b200h head be louder than the ampeg?? Volume and gain settings are lower on the acoustic than the ampeg. THere is a noticeable difference. Not a huge tone difference though. Acoustic isn't quite as trebly. Weird...

Knob setting mean absolutely nothing.

Every amp has different EQ points, and different tapers on their volume knobs.

Some amps max out around noon on the volume knob, and gain almost nothing as you turn it up more - other amps can make full use of "upper" settings of the volume knob.

The (GC) Acoustic may be tailored for more low mids, less power is needed in that range to seem "louder".

took the ampeg back and got an acoustic b600h. This seems to be more to my liking.
