Active Bass on an older amp..

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I have an ESP Jazz bass (EMG J Set actives) copy running on an older Ampeg SVT-III (Non-Pro). There are two inputs Normal and Bright. I started to notice I get a clip light when I turn the amp to about half. (200 at 8 and 300 at 4). I am running a Hartke 410XL. Do I need more power or a new amp that is made for passive or active inputs?

Thanks

I have used my Ibanez ATK (active) on my 70s Kustom200 (loooong time, still my baby and main amp) with no problems. Shoot, my other two amps are both early 80's models as well (Peavey Mark VI and GK 400rb) and those i have had no problems with either.

If you're clipping, roll off the volume on your bass a bit and use the amp itself to crank volume to taste.

I think I will do that, I think I am just feeding the amp to much gain.
