The actual speakers in a PF-115HE
Calling all Ampeg PF-115HE owners; can someone tell me the specific speaker model(s) in the PF-115HE cabinet?
I have an older Ampeg B-15T that is going to get a new amp attached to the flip top board and new speaker(s) in the cabinet.
I asked around and received suggestions for a Beta 15A or Delta 15A to use in the cab which would probably do great, but thought I would find out what Ampeg is actually putting in the new cabinets.
I found they are using an "LF" 15, but don't know the exact model.
Here's what is on the Ampeg site in the PF-115HE specs;
1 x 15˝ ceramic Eminence® LF driver
1˝ HF compression driver w/L-Pad level control
If anyone can see the back end of the speaker to see exactly what's in there, I would appreciate the info.
The magnet has Ampeg Portaflex at the top, then PF15 and 8 OHM in the center on either side, then at the bottom it says P/N 2035735 and on the next line AW1406
EDIT: I wasn't able to find anything helpful via Google with this information.
It's a custom job that Eminence makes for them. You can order it if you want. Call Ampeg on Monday and they can tell you how to get one if you want it.
Thanks to both of you. Jimmy; I was heading toward ordering a Delta 15A as you suggested. Then, I thought I'd check the Ampeg site to see if I could tell what they used. Of course, they don't give that level of detail, but I did notice the "LF" in the description of the 15". I don't have to duplicate the PF-115HE drivers, but I figure Ampeg did a lot of homework on the design, so I'd like utilize their knowledge.
Now, my old B-15T cabinet is ported, and I understand the HE is sealed (or is it now also ported?), so the same 15" that is in the HE might be the wrong direction for me.
My goal is to upgrade my cabinet up to its max potential since it's in such good condition. As it is today, it's limited in volume and clarity, so I don't use it much.
Ya, Ampeg did a lot of homework on those speakers for the PF115he and LF, but that's no guarantee they'll work out in your cab. I tried one in my double baffle B-15 cab when I had a PF115he, and I didn't like it in there, although it worked a treat in the cab it was built for. So you're right to have concerns.
