Add A 8Ω Cab Or A 4Ω?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking of adding another cab to my rig and can't decided between 4Ω or 8Ω cab. My head (Eden WT330) does 230 watts at 8Ω, 330 at 4Ω, and 420 at 2Ω.

I'm thinking that if I add a 4Ω cab the head will see something like 2.5Ω's because I have an 8Ω cab right now. If I did that could it push 400 some watts into that 4Ω cabinet right?

All this ohm and watt stuff is confusing!

Craig

Add another cab identical to the one you have. The watts are moot.

If you have an 8 ohm 1x12 you can add a 4 ohm 2x12
if you have an 8 ohm 2x10 you can add a 4 ohm 4x10

Yup. Match your cab - you'll match your volume, and you'll sound good. Do it different and you'll get good and frustrated.

Both methods mentioned deliver equal power to each (same sized) driver.

What's the either/or problem?
