Add-On Ampeg BA-115HPT

Sign in to disble this ad
Excuse me if this question is too simple. I have an Ampeg BA-115HPT (220 watts, with a 15" speaker). This amp has a three-prong "Line Out" feature which is meant to connect to the mixing board. We don't run instruments through our PA, so I was wondering if I can run a cord from this "Line Out" connection to another amplifier, and add speakers. Like another 15", or an 18", or some tens, with their own slave amplification.

You could, but you'd need a transformer to switch it from low to high impedance at the amp end of the cable. You can find them in any Radio Shack, though.

With this transformer, would I then be able to use any amp/speaker box I want?

I don't have one of them and I've never done it, but if it'll work in a board, it should work into another amp. I'd try it out with a spare or a borrowed amp before you go spending money on a new amp, though.

Level is pretty low with most of the line-outs.....

But with that unit the level is fairly high, and it could be OK
