Add Internal Amp & Speaker Mod for Solid Body Bass?

Has anyone ever tried to build a small amp/speaker combo into the body of a bass (or retrofit an existing bass with same)? I know it's been done on a six-string guitar. I imagine it would be hard-to-do on a bass, but perhaps not impossible.

I tried searching TB for this but didn't come up with anything.

You could never get any volume out of it. Bass cabs need internal volume for resonance, and you'd never get enough out of building one into the body without making it heavy or badly.

If you ask me, acoustic basses have the same problem. That's why uprights are so darn big.

For solid Booty Bass you'd probably want a 1x18... no way it'll happen.
