adding a tweeter to an Eden 1-15" cab

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an older model Eden 1-15" cab. I use it as part of a bi-amp rig, so I didn't get the model that came with a tweeter. I've recently started playing in 2 bands and really hate carrying all that gear back and forth. So I was wondering if I could add a tweeter to my 1-15" cab and just lug the head to and fro. The jack plate on my cab doesn't have the crossover knob, so I'm guessing it doesn't have the crossover either. Would I need to be able to turn the tweeter off when I use the cab as part of the bi-amp configuration? Thanks

You will need to add a crossover aswell as the horn
Contact Eden and ask them for the parts

You don't need a crossover if you plan to use a piezo tweeter. The other benefit is that it won't change the ohm rating on the cab. However some people don't prefer them due to the kind of highs that they produce.
The top end of most tweeters is around 20khz, a bass guitars range doesn't come close to that. Have you considered adding a mid bass driver? Although you might not have too much extra room on the baffle.

Using peizo's is the easiest, cheapest solution. No crossover required, just a resistor. Want more bright, add more of them, may end up with 2 or 4 of them in there but that's ok, they're only 2-3 $ each.

The other solution is to get a real HF horn tweeter and you'd still likely only have to highpass it because no matter how you go, there's going to be a big hole between where the woofer can't play any higher and the tweet can't play any lower.

I ran the cab solo and it didn't sound too woofy. I then checked my 2-10 cab and found I barely had the horn on at all, so I think I'm gonna nix that project. Sometimes I get crazy ideas, luckily I don't follow through on most of them.

Unless you're pop-snappin' & slappin' you prolly don't need a tweeter at all, and mebbe not even then. IMHO it's mostly a marketing gimmick.....
