Question Additional Cab recomendation

Sign in to disble this ad
Yes, it's another recommend a cab thread.

I'm currently running a Carvin BX1200 head with a RL210T "Red-Eye" Cab (4 ohm). The 210 has been great, I currently run the head in Bi-Amped Mode.

My latest band tunes down a half step and is louder than what I've been doing in the past.
Long story short, the current rig is getting "woofy" on the low notes. I'm thikin it's time to take advantage of the BX1200's internal crossover and add a 1x15 cab.
Carvin recommends the BR115N-4 . In general Carvin has always done me right, but I'd like an outside opinion.

Thoughts are welcome

Biamping with full range cabs makes absolutely no sense. And, matching cabs ALWAYS work best.

The 2x10 has a freq drop off @ ~60 htz... Would running a second 2x10 gonna help?

I should also note, I'm not attached to bi-amping. The BX1200 has true dual outputs as well

Yes, 2 matching cabs will provide coupling, which will increase the low end response.

Question

Ok - so this begs the next question:
What 2x10 should I be looking at? Carvin stopped making the RL210T years ago, I doubt I'll be able to find one.

Again - I'm really looking to eliminate the woof of my current rig.
Kinda eying the BRx10.2 Neo since they claim it will go down to 28htz

Put the Neo on the bottom and use the BX1200's crossover to dump the sub 150 htz lows there?

UPDATE: Managed to find a (barely) used 10.2 Neo cab and pulled the trigger
Tried the thing out with the full band last night... holy crap what a difference. The whole sound is MUCH cleaner. I'm really impressed
