Advice on which bass cab rig to sell.

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everybody,

I'm going crazy figuring out which of my bass rigs to keep and sell. The first rig is a Dr. Bass 8ohm 500w 2x10 and a Dr. Bass 500w 8ohm 3x10. The second rig is a Tecamp 600w 8ohm s212 and 300w 8ohm xs112. I know I would probably get more money for the Tecamp cabs, but money aside, I don't really need so many cabs and want to stick with the same brand.

The pros of the Dr. Bass cabs are that they have Line-X covering and sound really clear yet ballsy, on their own or paired, especially when pushed, and that they are not too deep and have recessed side handles. The cons are that they don't have that massive floor shaking bass that 12s give you and that they are a bit heavier than the Tecamp cabs.

The pros of the Tecamp cabs are that they take up less stage space since they are vertically built, are lighter and really shake the walls, particularly when paired. The cons are that the connectors are speakon only, the Tolex is less durable than the Line-X coating, and that the xs112 by itself sounds good but really doesn't have the power to handle a decent gig, probably only limited to practicing and coffee house type stuff.

Thanks for your advice and happy 4th of July!

I'd sell all but the S212, then get another S212. Would make a great stack, and a flexible rig.

I just about agree w/ 4-string....Although I did a 212 w/ a 210 combo and the fuller range sounded much better. Still you can't go wrong w/even adding another 212. Good luck and have fun.

Those s212s are expensive though! Even if I sold all three of those cabs I don't think I could afford to buy a new s212. And they are very rare on the used market.
