I've gone from 810e to 410xl, to 410hlf most recently, and while each had their positives, they have all been a bit of a pain to lug around. The 810e requires a truck, the 410xl was heavy as hell, but at least fit in the hatchback, and the 410hlf is slightly lighter, yet more awkward to lift. I've been thinking about going modular, as I play in three different bands. A bar cover band, a hip-hop/R&B group, and a thrash metal band. The cover band never gets PA, so I am usually cranking my rig, but the hip-hop group often gets PA. It's those gigs I wish I had a single 2x10 or 1x15 possibly. I'm looking for a pair of 8 ohm cabs to run with my 7 pro- 1000w 4ohm, 600w 8ohm.
I've had my eye on the new ampeg neo line, but while they are very powerful on paper, they are also very pricey. They haven't seemed to get any attention here at all. The avatar neos look pretty cool too, but there website is pretty sparse on the tech specs. They look very powerful for their cost, but I'm interested in what the frequency curves are like with the various drivers/crossovers/horns. The GK stuff seems a little bit lean on the power handling, although super light and affordable. I am thinking that a double 2x10 rig might be right for me, but I might go for a 2x10 with a 1x15, 2x12, or some other mismatched cabs if they can actually pair up successfully. I know that is taboo, but I'm interested in real world experience/ testimonials from people using various neo combos. I don't think I'll part with the hlf, as it has something special in that low end, unless I can get something else that can play that role. |

I picked up an older Eden D410T recently that is just killer, and quite small (almost as small as it would be possible to make a 410) and light, and it's old and doesn't have neo drivers. I know that my Avatar 210 neo seemed like a great idea at the time, but it just couldn't cut it in the long run for me. YMMV. |

It's at it's best at higher volumes, a little constipated at softer volumes(to my ears). Certainly not the most musical cab I own but I like it for it's small footprint, light weight, durability/power handling and ample mids. Sounds "old school" enough with the horn turned-off as well which is a plus for some of my gigs.

A pair of avatar tb153s or the 212s maybe even... A single cab this size wouldn't cut down on room in the hatchback, but would be easier to tote around. A single 210 or 15 would only be for small rehearsals or good PA. |

This makes a 210 rig, a 410 rig, and a 610 rig (with equal power to all drivers). It is very hard for me to imagine a more flexible, musical, and powerful set of cabinets—all of which I purchased used for less than $950 total.
