Advice on a pair of 4x10's

Sign in to disble this ad
I posted a few weeks back about getting more juice out of my 1001rb for larger gigs that lacked a soundguy. Tried a few combinations and found the sweet spot with a pair of 410's. I have my eye on a few cabs. These include: Eden D410XLT, TC RS410, Epifani PS410, GK Neo, and Hartke Neo. I know a few of these are apples to oranges but I expect some of you guys can offer some testimonials/experiences with these models to help me narrow down my options. Please only advice on various 410's.

Looking for a deep tone that sits in the mix. I run a Toby through a gk1001 and dbx 160a.

Cheers!

You can have 6 Avatar 4-10 cabinets for the price of 2 of most of the other 4-10s you mentioned-and Avatar have the same Eminance 10" NEOs. 3/4 birch plywood, not particle board. I own 3 Avatars and they are well made and sound great-you just have to purchase them direct as they dont go through distributors or music stores. Good luck in your search!

Thanks for the advice and keep it coming. I own an avatar 212 that replaced my previous cabinet. I love it, but it gets muddy at higher volumes and considering its rated at 4 ohms, I don't want to push it.

I have an older NYC Epifani 4x10 that produces *huge* lows. The tone is just a bit scooped, so I usually bump up the mids on my amp, but only a bit. The lows that cab produces is fairly massive - I really can't imagine needing two of them!

I tried an NYC over at the LA Bass Exchange paired with a NYC Sadowsky a few years back. It was the best thing in the history of ever.

Does Epifani sell direct?

I love Eden stuff and I agree, if you need two even without FOH support, I would be shocked...

Eden 410XLT's!!! If you can't get them for a good price, go Carvin BRX10.4

I'm running an Epifani UL410 Series 1 off an EA iAmp 800 and love it. the Series One is 56 lbs. (4 ohm) They make a 610 now if you need more
I've toyed with getting another one as the iAmp 800 will run down to two ohms (not the newer latest one) but to be frank I've never needed it. It does very well outside also and if the venue needs more then there will be PA support.

Eden 410 SXT is supposed to offer even more low bass response than the XLT

I have a Epifani PS410 that I push with a Eden WT550, and I get crisp highs, with a massive low end.

I use two Avatar 410 Neos with a GK1001 or an SVT-1000. It works well for me. However, I'm currently playing in an 80's hairband tribute and that sound may not be your thing.

Except for adding one thing: Sadowsky + Epi UL1 410 + Mesa Carbine M9

An Epifani UL1 410 4ohm + a UL1 210 8ohm gets you a very flexible 610 that turns into a 410 or 210 when you want it to. Ask Chef about two 410 Epifani cabs. He sold one, but still uses an M9 Carbine head.

This is what two Epifani PS410's look like:

...and, of course, powered by the PS1000 head.
