Advice on Practice Amp: Marshall MB30 vs Hartke A35

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a bedroom practice amp for use with my Precision bass. I'd like it to have Aux/MP3 inputs, and a headphone jack.
I'm considering the Marshall MB30 or Hartke A35. They are pretty much the same price. Which one would you guys choose?

Thanks!

Thanks! I'm mainly considering the Marshall and Hartke, but will keep all suggestions in mind.
Between the Marshall and Hartke, does one have better parts/quality overall?

I own and gig the Hartke's big brother, the A100 and have never had a problem with it since I bought it almost four years ago, so if you're choosing between the Marshall and the Hartke, I'd recommend the Hartke.

However, the Hartke commands a lot of coin. If you're looking for an amp to use exclusively for bedroom practice (no band rehearsals or gigs), look at something like a Fender Rumble 15, which I have in my office and bought for $79 used. Saw another used one at my local GC last week for $99. It's got a stereo in for an MP3 player and a headphone out. I'll never bring it to a rehearsal or gig, but it's perfect for my practicing needs.

Happy hunting!

Thanks for your reply, and for the info!

You know, the Rumble 30 was the first combo I was considering.
I'll take a look at the Rumble 15 though. It will only be used for practice use. I did see some negative reviews online with the Rumble 30 as far as being reliable.

Thanks again!

^^^ Having owned a Peavey Micro Bass (which I gave to my brother) and now the Rumble 15, I set my expectations pretty low around reliability for amps this cheap (which is what they are -- cheap amps). For bedroom practice, they get the job done. Personally, I can't see spending more than $100 for such a unit.

Let us know what you end up with!
