so i traded some dusty stuff i didn't want for a pair of old peavey 4x10 pa columns. they had (no kidding) 5 of the 8 drivers repaired with f-ing PINK nail polish. no biggie, i thought just get some new speakers. so long story short help with math is what i really need. the speakers i have list a spec for Vas as 2.27cu ft. does that mean that for me to use them this box has to have 9.08 cubic feet inside? there aren't any ports. the internal dims are 14.5 wide 46.5 high and 6.5 deep. should i have done more homework first or is this going to be ok? oh, and yes they're for my bass, not pa. thanks.

A lot more. You need to learn how to use this:
LinearTeam
Your columns might have adequate volume for two tens, and only if their T/S specs allow them to work in a sealed cab at all.

they're designed for sealed cabs supposedly. so i'm not out all that much dough on them, would it hurt to try porting? or is there just too little space there to work with? what if i affix the two boxes into a single giving me roughly twice the depth? really, the only money i'm in is for four speakers (fixing one cab at a time was the plan) b/c like i said i just traded some 'junk' guitar amps out of the basement for the cabs. hoped they'd work to throw in my friend's garage so i wouldn't have to move anything but a head back and forth for jams.
