AE212 with an SVT?

Sign in to disble this ad
Any of you Berg guys tried an AE212 with an all-tube SVT? Impressions?

I'm just about to pull the trigger on the cab as a downsizing measure from my NV610. Haven't decided whether I'll part with the NV or not. Eventually I will pick up a lighter head so that I'll have a fairly lightweight rig for gigging. I have chronic back issues so dragging the SVT and NV around is getting to be a bit of a chore.

svt

I have a vintage svt and my AE212 is arriving today. I'll post some impressions later. Im not expecting anything mind blowing though. The svt only sounds really good through a sealed cab to me.

Are there any sealed 2x12s that are sealed?

cab

I just tried the svt and ae212. Not a good match. The svt puts out such a big low end as does the 2x12. With an svt you need a sealed cab or at least one that has a 80-100hz 12db high pass.

no

It's better but, no. And thats with a 70's svt. An ampeg classic would be worse because it has less low mids.

Ultra-lo in or out?

I probably wouldn't spend much time using the AE212 with the SVT anyway. It's kind of pointless to get a lightweight cabinet and still drag around a 90lb head.

I'm currently using an NV610 with my mid-70s SVT and it's perfect, but it's really too much to drag to most of my gigs.
