Affect of magnet size/weight on speaker, all other things equal?

If you have a particular speaker basket/cone/vc, what would be the affect of a larger/heavier magnet vs a lighter magnet?

Since there are different magnet materials used in speakers, the weight of the magnet is of little consequence.

Consider, for example, that a neodymium magnet can be up to ten times as strong as the equivalent alnico magnet, and therefore ten times smaller.

Higher overall sensitivity but at the expense of bass response.

Bill, are you saying the larger magnet will give higher sensitivity and less bass? I would have guessed more bass with the larger magnet.

Rick, I was talking about speakers like the Peaveys which use interchangeable ceramic (I think) magnets which will fit on the same baskets.

What's this?
A magnet with a knob?

Anybody doing field-coils these days - adjust the magnet with current.

I'm in the optimize the driver for it's purpose and use EQ to adjust the sound camp.
