Well...the M2000 is actually an older design, and two amps in one...so yeah, it's a complicated rig.

Find an amp that is only one amp, and you'll automatically be 1/2 as complicated.

That's been out of production for years, and is probably the most complicated amp every made (multiple channels, MASSIVE EQ options, multiple tubes, etc., etc.). Not a very good example IMO.

I understand the M2000 is one of the more complicated amps out there.

I guess my point was......if there's a malfunction, do you pretty much have to send it back to the manufacturer to be fixed?

Looked like a really hearty VCR inside!

You should be able to take it to any Mesa/Boogie authorized repair place...who will most likely send THAT amp right back to the factory.

Great amp, but far too complicated for the casual user.

Mesa is making much simpler amps now. Mostly. The Big Block 750 should be a dead-simple amp.

I had a M-2000 once, it had a hiss that was just too annoying, Here's a view of the inside

You were doing tube changes? How much difference did that make?

On the bright side, it appears that changing tubes would be very simple. My Peavey Pro Bass 500 head is probably supposed to be "simple" (except for the parametric Mid EQ section), but it was rather difficult to change the tube in that amp.

In V1, ( the tube in the front left side ) I used a GTE/Sylvania 5751, and in V2 I used a Reissued Tung-Sol 12Ax7, and in the driver tube ( the one in the back of the amp ) I used a Reissued Mullard 12AX7 ... yes it did make a little difference ...the amp came with the cheap hissing Chinese Mesa labeled tubes

I'm going to have to check that out.

I'd like to squeeze a little more upper end brightness and a little more dirt on the high gain channel.

Wow, much easier than changing the pre tube in my Ashdown amp. I have to pull the analog meter from the faceplate, then use hemostats to replace the tube because it's at an angle to the hole in the faceplate. I'd like to know who came up with that idea.

I went from a 400+ to an M2000 in '05.

Best amp ever. Only amp I'll use live.
There's a reason for all those bells and whisles: Versatility.

I have an Eden, 2 Marshalls (Tube & SS) and an Ampeg.

The Boogie M2000 owns them all.

Really? I was kinda digging the tone out of my tube amps lately?

Would you consider the M2000 darker then most other amps?

I wish I had a use for all of those extra bells and whistles.

not to offend anyone, or rain on their parade, but my experience with the M2000 is that it's a 'jack of all trades', but master of none. IMO, there's way too much circuit in them to have a clear tone, and they sound way too 'veiled' to me. but if you like it, that's great. besides being difficult for them to produce with that much circuit, i can completely understand why they discontinued them.

When I had that M-200 amp, it had a hiss that wouldn't go away and was dark sounding, the tube side had a very strong round sound that you couldn't dial out or reduce , and was IMHO a POS ... but in all fairness the FET side did have a nice tight sound to it with some nice punch, but that happened in a very narrow area of the tone controls, when you changed rooms you had to find it again
