I did a search for this amp but found threads mainly about the AG 500 and not the 500SC version. Is the 2 channels the only difference between the 2 amps? I presume tone wise they're both the same on the regular channel? I have an opportunity to pick up a used one locally for €650 which is half price on what it sells for brand new. Anyone using this amp? I'd mainly be using it as a backup to my Ampeg SVT 4 Pro.

Back-up..........back-up??? This could replace the Ampeg in a jiffy! Haha!

.........depending what tone you need of course!

Yes, the SC is the same as the 'non-overdrive' channel on the AG500. It is a 2-channel amp, one clean and the other is clean'ish to full blown drive. Check this clip to get an idea:
YouTube - In The Field With Stu Brooks from Dub Trio

First Stu's clean tone which is set quite low and Dubby, then the other with Massive drive.

The AG500 is really my favourite amp and has been for a few years even after trying a lot of others (see my profile for an idea), with the DB751 being a close second for different reasons. My humble opinion of course, but for €650 you could always sell it on for more if it doesn't work for you.

Cheers,

Andy

Cheers for the info and the youtube clip! His tone is pretty awesome. I wouldn't mind not having the overdrive channel as I use a fulltone bass drive for my overdrive anyway. I'll hopefully be trying out the 500SC over the weekend so I'll report back on it

I bought mine a few months ago and absolutely love it. I've been playing a lot of foo foo gear for years and finally wanted something more plug and play. I agree, it's the best amp they make.

Out of interest, are there many on here using this amp in a hardcore/metal band?
