Aguilar DB line: Need DB210 thoughts

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, guys. I've heard the Aggie DB112, DB212, and DB410 cabinets. I loved every single one of them....love them, especially the DB112. I'm thinking of snagging either a DB112, DB212 or DB210. If I get the DB112 or 210, then I would probably add a 2nd later for stacking.

How does the DB210 sound in comparison to the DB112. Is it more or less "the same thing but slightly punchier because of the 10" drivers?"

Is it tighter, more open, more mid-rangey, etc? Just some general comparisons are fine.

Cool question... love my DB112's. Standing by for comments on a 210...

Id like to know what the DB410 sounds like!

The DB410 is the BEST sounding 410 I've ever heard for live mixes. It has a full bottom with a present top end, and then just gobs of warm mids that make it sound great in a mix. I love the thing, but at 98 pounds you really have to commit yourself to using it. If I thought that two db210's would sound as good as the db410, I'd go that direction in a heart beat. I use a cart to move my cabs, so it's not the transport of that weight that bothers me at all. It's the lifting it in and out of a car, or up and down off a stage. Two db210's would weight another 20 lbs, but it would make that lifting much easier.

Love the DB112's. I was not impressed with the DB210 particularly. The front to back measurement is, I believe, much thinner than the DB410. I found that cab to lack low end extension.

The Bergantino HS210 killed it... similar tonal footrprint, similar size (the Berg is even smaller), but more booty.

And, at over 60 pounds with cover, the weight is brutal.

The TC Electronics RS210 is also a better option... more full and even, MUCH better top end (smoother, more organic), lighter, and the nice vertical orientation is great.

Thanks, Ken. Just to clarify your statements above, you are saying the hs210 killed the db210, correct?

Also, with regard to the rs210, I don't want a smoother tone versus the db112, 212 or 410. Not sure if that's what you meant, or if you were directing that only at the db210.

The db cabs I've heard really represent THE live tone in my head. I've been noodling with neo cabs for years in an effort to get close to that. None have really done that, nor did the rs210's for me.

+1 The HS210 is like a 'better' DB210 (as it the RS210 IMO). I prefer the DB112's to both of them though.

All cool then. I've read comments on the hs210 that had me wanting to check it out, and others that scared me away from it.

Would you say the db210 is more like a Sadowsky sa210? It might make for a killer pairing with the Streamliner if so.

IMO, not quite as thin down low as the SA210, but that was based on limited time with the SA210 and non direct comparison.

That's my interest in the db210. If they're punchy and mid focused, they should matchup well with the SL900 which is very sa200-like. The sa210 and sa410 really spoke with the sa200, but none of those individual components really had the same beauty when used with other, less colored sounding gear IMHO.
