Aguilar DB659 tone? Compared to DB750?

I understand that the 659 is only a preamp, but tonally are these and the DB750 similar or? Any help would be appreciated.

I personally feel like they're very similar, definitely different shades of the same color or whatever. The DB680 is the completely different animal.
