Aguilar DB810 or DB412

I did a search and I can not find a thread about this.

What can I expect from the Aguilar DB810 vs the DB412

I don't really want to get into which is better. How are they different.

I saw my friends band play and he has a DB810 and it sounded great!!! Loved it!!! So I know what the 810 will sound like, what sets the 412 apart?

I don't have first hand experience but from what I've read, the DB810 is the more balanced of the two while the DB412 has more of a bump in the mids.

I have played a DB410 and a DB412 and could say that its true with these as well, however both were mid forward cabs to begin with.

Probably no that many guys who have really given these two cabs a good run side by side would be my guess marlond?

I had both the DB810 and (GS)412 for quite a while,

Used them in lots of different rooms / types of shows.

I still own the GS412 and also have a GS410... needless to say I prefer the GS tone myself

I can't compare a DB810 to a DB412, but I can compare an Ampeg 810 to a DB412. To my ears the DB412 wasn't as punchy and had more mids. The Ampeg was also tighter, but it is a sealed cab. I personally prefer the 810. If you're set on an Aguilar 412, I'd also consider the GS series which has less mid honk.

Thanks. I like the mids. What may seem "honk-ie" on its own usually just cutting much better. I don't really know what I would want. I may have to try and find a place that has a DB410 a DB212 and see which one I like more. That would probably give me a good idea of what the big brothers would be like.

marlond, i see you are in seattle- go to bass northwest. they will be able to answer all of your questions, and probably let you try both.

from what i hear, the 810 is louder (it's among the loudest on the market), while the 412 has more "chest."

That was the plan

Loud is not that necessary. Most venues that don't have a sound system to support DI'ing are small enough that a 410 would do fine. And a 412 would probably saturate.

I just want to know if the 412 would be tight enough from my liking.

I hear that they sound big, amazing and really hit. But the SVT CL sounds big and amazing on its own, but in a metal band it can get lost.

I really guess I need to try it out for myself.

Will the 410 and 212 be like the 810 and 412 (just smaller)?

Somewhere in this thread, JMJ talks about the 810 and the 412. He ended up using both , but there's a comparison in there.
Aguilar it is

Hey Marlond, it looks like these guys are an Aguilar dealer in Seattle, have you checked them out yet? Maybe they have some cabs you can try out...
