Aguilar GS speakers in my Schroeder cab. Whats your prediction?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm trying to go from 4 to 8 ohm on my Schroeder 1212R. What do you think the result would be of dropping in a pair of 16 ohm speakers from an Aguilar GS 2x12?
I know I could go through Jorg but I'm looking to save a few bucks. Opinions?
Thanks.

Unless someone has done exactly what you're proposing, it's an impossible question to answer, as the full specifications of the Aguilar drivers will be unavailable to anyone outside the company.

Yup, total crapshoot. No spec set, the only way to know is to try. Start at low volume, creep up gradually 'til you find the farting threshold.

I think your point is right on the mark. This is what I am inclined to think as well. I guess I'm looking for that answer I always get from my ski buddies which goes something like, "It doesn't look that bad, I think you should do it".

You're right though, unless someone has done exactly this, I'll probably skip the "crapshoot".

(however, when it comes to chutes, I'm gonna keep going for it.)

I appreciate your input,
CJ
