hey all, just wanted to ask my fellow TB'ers a question on getting rid of my GS212 for another GS112 to have a portable 2x12 stack. i hardly use my GS212 nowadays, but i always use my GS112. so my plan was to use one for small shows, and two for bigger gigs if needed. what do you guys think??? is one GS212 louder than 2 GS112's or would i get the same volume???? should i keep it??? i also want to add that my GS212 is 4 ohms.

I have heard some say they feel like they get a bit more bass from having the 2 12s in the same box but I don't think it's a huge difference.
FWIW, the GS212 is one of my favorite cabs.

I ditched mine in favour of a Sadowsky SA410 cab. I regret ever doing that

Plus right now I'm loving the fact I can carry around my head with my 112 to small gigs and rehearsals instead of a not-so-great sounding Ampeg BA115 I had. Plus my whole rig (and bass) fits in my trunk. I always had to strategically put my GS212 in the back seat of my 2 door....I pretty sure this setup will suit me better.

Alot of people have left Eden to go to Genz Benz these days, and they make nice heads, but i love my Eden head.

Seven years ago I bought a new 4 ohm GS212 and it's what I've used ever since. I run an old GK800RB for smaller places and an Alembic F-1X/PLX2402 outside.
I can't speak on the 112's though I hear they're pretty nice, but I'm not switching anytime soon.

I really like that you get such a small footprint, yet plenty of power when using 2 of them.
They sound absolutely devastating with my DB751. |

I did use it a lot but it seemed like overkill for the Jazz & rehearsals but not enough for full-on rocking out. So I got a smaller, lighter Acme B-1 for the mellow stuff.
I occasionally regret ditching the 112 because for certain apps, it certainly did hit a sweet spot. And for outdoor gigs, I could have run it parallel with the 4 ohm 212 and had a 2.6 ohm stack. (Could have but never did...)
Obviously our situations are different. But when I need the bigger rig, I personally like the simplicity of hauling out just that one cab.
YMMV.

YMMV. | Yea man I wanted another GS112, but GC did want to give me what I wanted, and can't seem to sell it locally. And I love its sound so I still have it and have been kind of having a change of heart. I think ill just save and look for another GS112 on the used market than that way ill have both options.
