It's interesting to look at em again after a few months use of the TH500.
I "A/B'd" this amp up against a SVT-VR a few weeks ago & results were pretty much as when I used it with my Traynor YBA300. (I used the TH500 for 2nd of two sets, YBA300-1st set)
Played thru a Bergantino NV412-sealed 4x12" & Fender RW-P bass & EBMM Stingray 5.
I was amazed at how similar they could sound, when eq'd to be alike.
Even the overdrive was similar- I adjusted both amps to have just a "touch"- & a "touch more when digging in.
I don't (in this band-playing old school funk & soul) have a bright "toppy" tone dialled in anyway, but the TH500 "kept up" in every regard apart from the "zingy" hi's.
Plenty (more) power & heft (dunno why ppl say class D can't punch as hard )
Made me really question the 50+lbs, all tube route.
Anyone tried the TH500 thru an Ampeg 810?
As it was SO good thru my NV412, wondering if it's "too much of a good thing" thru one?

Have fun you guys, i miss that amp (and all my basses, my pedals, ...you get the idea). I was just starting to dial in a sweet tone that worked so well with my Jazz.
Anyway, back to the originally scheduled program.....

Is there a place on TB for a "be on the look out for my stolen goods"? I'd imagine with how much shopping goes on by TBers on ebay, cl, etc., there could be some hope?

I do search CL, my stuff is VERY distinct. Once you've filed the police report (this applies to CL), you gotta just look for the ad containing your stuff, contact the police, they set up the deal.
Or, make the contact yourself and bring the biggest dude you know.
I wouldn't recommend that tho.

I was impressed with the TH pedal and when I saw Aguliar 750/751, 359 and AG500s being replaced by the TH, I knew my ears weren't lying to me.
I've owned class 'D' amps since 1989 and truth is...
INMHE & O: Tone and convient comfort is nicely done with the TH500....

As it was SO good thru my NV412, wondering if it's "too much of a good thing" thru one? | I haven't tried it but I've heard George Porter play his TH500 through the Ampeg 810 back line at the Wolf and it was magical.

Good to hear. I can't imagine him having anything less than stellar tone

Good to hear. I can't imagine him having anything less than stellar tone | Last several times I have seen him come in with his Lakland bass in a Mono bag and the TH500 head and he just hooks up to whatever is there. Usually an Ampeg fridge. He always sounds like George.
I try real hard but cant quite there mice elf.

This thing is stable as heck, and uses the same power module as the Genz 900 and 9.2 series amps. They both configure those modules a bit differently, and both the Aguilar and Genz heads are rock solid regarding reliability and there are virtually no reports of even any 'overheating' shut-downs with either brand when pushed hard.
Whether you like the tone or not is a personal thing, but I've found the TH500 to be one of the biggest sounding micro's out there. Quite impressive, since it is also one of the lightest.

So far, I haven't had any chance to really push my TH, but I have no doubt it would handle anything thrown at it just fine. Definitely nothing thin or "micro" about the tone of it.
Maybe that's why I haven't pushed it - because it gets the job done so well without cranking it up.

It just means that the entire preamp signal is being overdriven a bit (which the Aguilar guys believe actually sounds good). I've only had that indicator come on once, and it was on one of the loudest gigs I've ever done |

Was playing the V4B last night at practice and was actually missing hearing the Aggie. That's crazy, right?

Even diming the drive and gain gives far more distortion than I typically use.
