This colors my perception of bass rigs; I like something with a little inherent drive and compression that changes in tone (but less in volume) when I dig in. | +1 on that. The TH500 is definitely in that school of thought. |

I'm doing a festival gig tonite-TH500> GK 8 ohm 410 cab (backline supplied). I immediately unplugged the Evo 500 & plugged in my Aggie. SWEET!

I scaled down to one 4 ohm DB212 in the classic black, but I sometimes miss having two.

Tommy | That's the setup I have now, TH500 pushing the SVT 410HLF for small gigs and 810e for bigger venues. It sounds good don't get me wrong but....after hearing the TH500 at Sam Ash with both a DB410 and (2)SL112's, the Ampeg cabs just don't do it for me anymore. So after lots of reading on this forum, just yesterday I ordered myself (2)DB212's.
Until I got the TH I was used to my SVT-CL to power the cabs and the TH500 to me, made a world of difference. |

I scaled down to one 4 ohm DB212 in the classic black, but I sometimes miss having two. | I was very much on the fence about 1-4ohm cab vs 2-8ohm cabs but realistically, 1-212 just won't cut it with my main band for most gigs. I figure on small shows where 1-212 is enough, the loss of power at 8ohms shouldn't be an issue. For the majority of shows, I'll have the 2-8ohms to take advantage of the max wattage from the TH. So at least I have 2 options.
This is the 1st time I'm buying bass cabs without actually testing them first in person and they are far from cheap. But thanks to lots of great info on this forum, I feel I'm making an informed decision that'll best meet my needs. |

It kept up with our LOUD band (hard hitting drums, Vox gtr,Fender Twin Gtr, Keys-Fender HR Dlx & lotsa vocals) very easily, room to spare.
I thought it may've been only just ok at 8 ohms, but goes to show how it's speaker area that gives u most volume, not yr wattage.
Sounded very good.

Tommy | Very different sounding cabs...the Ampeg cab is a good buy here in Norway because of the lowered price. |

I'm about to buy one with a TH500, and don't have any local stores to test them.

Should anyone be ready to buy some DB112s though, Amazon has got three in classic black at a good deal right now - $486.92 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000YB...=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

| | | | Works as a DI I've had limited opportunity to use mine in a live situation. Have been using with one SWR 12" wedge for a quiet church stage.
For the Christmas Eve services, there were so many people there, I just went with the TH500 as a DI, and then used an Aviom as a monitor. The TH gave a much more solid signal (post eq) than just my passive J bass would have. I did use the -20db switch on the board, then adjusted the channel gain. I just stuck the TH500 under the chair behind me and was happy. I did notice that running post eq, turning the gain control had a significant effect on volume going to the board. I kept it at about 8:30 or 9:00. Drive at about 10:00 or 11:00 to warm things up. Worked great. I wonder if the Drive control's built in low filter helped keep from blowing my cheap ear buds. All worked well, except trying to sing with ear buds in. Never have liked that.
