Aguilar - Official 'Tone Hammer 500' 3.8lbs 500w Thread!!! New!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
A lightweight Aguilar bass amp with the Tone Hammer preamp...3.8lbs 500watts!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just received this email from Glenn at Bass Specialties in Phila...
"Ciao Bassisti, well the folks have thrown me a curve ball - just got this from Dave Avenius :
Since we’ve been sending out the NAMM Specials we’ve decided to pre-announce a product that will be debuting at the show – the new Tone Hammer 500. This 3.8 lb amp will have 500 Aguilar watts of power and has the same powerful preamp section as the Tone Hammer. It’s warm, full, and sounds much bigger than it’s small size suggests!

the street price on this amp will be about $699, but pre-orders may result in a discount - let me know if you are interested!

Big Dave B. was hinting something about this during Bass Player Live... When they debuted the SL112 cabs.

He said, "Well, we got these new cabs so maybe there's a head coming out to go with them." Something like that anyway....

Yes!!!!! It's about time! luckily I have that covered. I have my Tone Hammer running through the effects send of a GK MB2-500 amp. but does indeed sound intriguing. Now if only Aguilar could make a Neo-equipped 4x10....

Yeah, this is the first I heard of it. I just received the email about an hour ago. This head sounds very promising. It just may take the place of my Shuttle! Time will tell!

What's the conversion factor between "Aguilar watts" and everyone else's watts?

Jokes aside, though, I do love the Tone Hammer. I have a fairly extensive pedal board, but 95% of the time, this (and my Strobostomp tuner) is all I have between me and my Markbass. Should be a very cool amp.

I can't imagine they'll keep the AG 500/SC in the line much longer.

This complicates tings. I thought I was ready to try a Shuttle 9.0 and Uber Quad. This is worth a look. Paired up with one or two of those new SL-112 cabs...

All of the sudden a mini Aguilar rig is lighter than a Markbass combo. Can pigs fly now, too?

Color me intrigued. I really like Aggie's heads as well as the Tone Hammer pedal.

This makes a lot of sense for them. They already had the pre ready with the ToneHammer. Put it at the front of a 500 watt Ice module in a box, and you are ready to go! I bet that will be a nice box for the guys who like the Ag500 type tone (I think the Tone hammer is basically the second channel of the Ag500 if I remember correctly) and are looking for a micro solution all in one box.

Did they cancel the Tone Hammer pedal, I can't seem to find it anymore.

Actually it's the AGRO that was the 2nd channel of the AG500. The TH is a different design.

Though they didn't have any at Bass Player Live, I believe a 410 is (or will be) part of the new SL lineup.

Ah, that's right. Is the Tone Hammer more like the first channel of the AG500?

AFAIK the Tone Hammer is more like a tweaked OBP3.

Also, just gonna quote myself here:
