Aguilar Pricing

Has anyone noticed in the last seven or eight years, that the more Aguilar is being used by pros and a lot more well known bassists or well known bands, they have gotten to the point where the average bass player cannot afford their gear?

I bought my pair of GS112s new in 2003 for $700 or $750. They are what now, $499 a piece? It seems like their only reasoning is the fact that they are more popular with touring pros who can afford a $1500 [Edit: $1300] 4x10.

I know some will say that this is how much pro boutique gear costs nowadays, but I don't see Epifani with crazy high prices in 2011.

They make great stuff, but you cannot say that their stuff is so far above and beyond other mfrs. that it justifies the price. I am in the market for a new cab, and I am looking over Aguilar for exactly this reason. You may get what you pay for, but you are still paying too much. I am speaking for all the people on this board who make a crappy income but still like pro gear.

I need to add that the DB410 is now $1100. Looks like they dropped the price since releasing the SL410.

Maybe I am wrong about this, re-reading my post makes it sound like Aguilar is 2x expensive as anything out there, which is not true. I just want to know what other reasons there are for raising prices. a few extra hundred may not seem like much to some, but for me it is a lot. I want a Bergantino cab more than anything but I am going to have to wait until I can find a second hand one, because any amp gear over $1000 I cannot justify.

I'm just waiting to see you talk yourself into buying 3 of them.

Compare their prices to Bergantino, DNA, Mesa, Eden, etc. High-quality bass cabinets are expensive.

It might just happen.

But the Bergantino is first on my list. And the NV610 is $1300 no matter where you go. IT is apparently set by the mfr. and retailers cannot sell it for any less.

But the nice thing about high-end equipment is how long it lasts, making second hand purchases a great investment.

Prices are going up on everything because comodity prices have been increasing significantly. That makes prices of manufactured goods such as basses, bass amps and cabs, etc., go up.

Not to mention how good it sounds. Bergantinos are my favourite cabs these days. I was an Eden guy for a long time, but the Bergs go a step beyond. However, the DNAs sound pretty good, too.
