Aguilar TH500 settings.
All right Aguilar fans, what are your settings on your TH500, what cab are you using and what bass?
I'm having trouble finding my tone and need examples.
drive: from 0 to 12:00
gain: from 9:00 to 12:00
Small eq changes are very effective. Most of the time it's flat with the treble boosted just a touch. I try to keep everything between 10 and 2 in any situation. With 1 db112, I might boost mids slightly, and with two I might cut the bass slightly.
The Drive knob basically limits bottom and top-end tone. More drive causes it to tighten up the lows and highs.
The gain knob is where you'll get distortion if you push it. Use it to taste.
Gain on 3:00
Mid shift 10:00
Thru a berg CN212 and a P with roundwounds
With my GK 112's, I'll run the eq all at noon, gain at noon, and drive at 1. With my Heritage 810, bass at 1, treble at noon, slight bump in high mids, gain at 1, drive at 9 or lower.
I'm finding those settings keep the tone pretty similar between the two cab set ups.
I end up setting everything between 10&2. My predicament is that I can't seem find a tone that I really love. I like the head, but every tone seems either boomy or anemic. I know that the eq is a learning curve compared to my Streamliner 900 which is a totally different animal.
I'm just looking for examples from others.
You may have too much EQ. It is extremely sensitive. Just bumping to 1 o'clock gives quite a bit. Don't swing the knobs widely; try small changes.
Try going back to noon with the EQ, put the drive at minimum, and start there. Adding drive will cut more bottom than top.
