Aguilar Tone Hammer vs Aguilar DB924

I'm interested in getting a pre-amp for my Warwick Corvette Proline and I'd rather not make any mods to my bass if I can avoid it.

I've stumbled across the Tone Hammer and it sounds like what I'm looking for. The only problem is that it does stretch my current budget at the minute. So basically I'm weighing up going for a Tone Hammer (new or used) or a cheaper DB924.

I'd be using either of them into my Eden WTX-260 or into my Mackie Onyx Satellite into my Macbook Pro for recording.

I realise that the Tone Hammer has a few handy features like a built-in DI and OD that the DB924 doesn't have, but is the fundamental tone of the two similar? Is it definately worth holding out for a Tone Hammer over the DB924?

Well, the DB924 has only two-band EQ, and a whole slew less bells and whistles. I have both, and the DB924, while a nice piece of kit, doesn't really do a heck of a lot more than boost treble and/or bass. If that's all you're looking for, the DB924 might be OK. I'd hold out for the Tone Hammer for it versatility.
