On my gig last night my Alembic F1-X had a big drop in power. Never died or distorted...just had about a 50% power drop and lost its bottom end. Any ideas?

Yes - it needs some TLC from a tech.

Scott,
It might possibly be a tube, but let's check a couple other things.

1) Have you tried different cables between the pre and power amp?

2) F/X loop. Sometimes the return jack contacts become a problem (A very common issue). Try a patch cable between the Send and Return jacks.

I had a similar thing happen with a Read Purity I once owned. It was indeed a tube and thankfully a cheap fix. Best of luck.

OK, so what is the simplest thing it could have been that I should have checked right on the spot....yup. The power chord was just barely seated in the amp. I guess enough to give it juice but not enough to make it thump. I forgot to check the dumbass switch on the back I recon....LOL
