Alembic F1x problem, please help

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Alembic F1x that will suddenly lose the low end. Nothing but a real thin, high end sound comes out. After a short time, the low end comes back, but the sound will be very fuzzy for awhile. Then everything goes back to normal for awhile, and starts all over again. I don't know if the tube could be causing it or if it's something shorting out. Any ideas, help, whatever, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

it sounds like the effects loop is the problem to me.
there are switches in the jacks that complete the circuit when nothing is plugged into them, and often become oxidized having that symptom. try a short 1/4" to 1/4" patch cable from the send to receive jacks and see if the problem persists. if it works fine that way, you need to clean the jack's switches with caig de-oxit.

This could also be caused by a bad capacitor. If you rule out the FX loop take the pre to a tech.

I would think the tube could also be a culprit as well.

I was wondering about that too. Thanks Jimmy and everyone. I'll try them all.
