Alien Substance in my New Cabinet

Sign in to disble this ad
So I just picked up a Fender Rumble 410 cabinet and a Rumbe 150 head. The cabinet arrived today, the head will be here Wed.

I plugged in the cabinet to my old Yamaha B100ii head, just to make sure it was working, and I heard this rattling sound, like one of the cones was torn.

So I unscrewed the grille to look at the cones and they seemed intact. But I noticed that there were these tiny pinkish plastic beads all over the place. Stuck between the cone paper and the mount there were hundreds of these little beads.

What the heck are they? Alien spores? Germ warfare agents?

I took all of them out (there were hundreds of them). Are they used for packing purposes? They very tiny so I can't imagine they are useful as packing material.

By the way, I think the rattling was a combination of the little beads and some packing peanuts that got stuck under the amp in the baffle.

If anybody has a clue what these little stowaways are, please let me know.

A package of dessicant got torn open most likely. (Vacuum up all the little beads.)

The dessicant was there to keep the interiorof the cabinet from getting humid and possibly molding while in storage. Same stuff you find in new boxes of shoes, etc. at the store.
