All Genz Benz products on "standby" by Fender ??

I just heard that from an importer this noon: Fender is going to put Genz benz products in "a state of dormancy" as in his own words.

I don't read that as a good news.... :hmm:

As I recently said on another thread, now you can't reach Jeff Genzler on his mailbox anymore, it's Josh Inouye replying, the SWR and Genz Benz brand manager .

What's going on ? really not good.....:scowl:

Is this rumor or maybe changing importers/distributors or something in France?

There was talk of shutting down SWR but seems to be much confusion. Genz seems to be doing pretty well over here. Judging from the past, that wouldn't stop Fender from screwing things up though.:p

Maybe some sort of corporate restructuring or other such bean counter shenanigans.

JimmyM 01-07-2013 10:55 AM

Why would they put their best selling bass amp line in a state of dormancy?

My money goes on either this being incorrect information, or something to do with the distributor in France.

It wouldnt make any sense to stall the Genz line.

How is "state of dormancy ' defined ......it maybe a stoppage in manufacturing of products for a time due to high levels of on hand stock.

dDaddybass 01-07-2013 11:34 AM

We should know for sure after NAMM.

Mastermold 01-07-2013 11:38 AM

This makes no sense. Perhaps someone from GB can weigh in and set the rumor straight.

Maybe they are waiting for NAMM to release new products, and that will change how they order/distribute old ones?

Didn't Aged Horse reply in that thread, stating that Jeff Genzler took some time off over the holidays?

willsellout 01-07-2013 12:32 PM

I heard from some guy "in the know" that GK is shutting down as well.

JimiLL 01-07-2013 12:45 PM

Wow.....hard to believe GK isnt turning a profit.

As soon as I found out that Genz was property of Fender, a little flame inside my body went out forever, I fear.

Jeff taking time off? Since when? Is that a little bit of a coincidence?

NOT TRYING TO START RUMORS!!!

Stephent28 01-07-2013 12:48 PM

Might be a good time to buy that extension cab or anything else you have been putting off.

I got all my GB stuff (mainly for acoustic guitar) in 2012 and I am glad I did.
Great stuff and if it is truly shut down I can't imagine it not going up in value.

Yes he did and said exactly that.

G-K shutting down? You forgot the smiliey. ;)

I like to see if anyone falls for it:p

Hard to really know what is going on with Fender. I heard one guy swear they are eliminating all J basses from their line because 'P Basses rule'. Then, another guy said they were eliminating all P Basses from their line. He had heard that the reason was that 'J Basses rule'.

So, at this point, I just don't know what is going on over there.

:p:D

Isn't it obvious? The only Fender bass that will be produced in 2013 and forward will be a Fender Performer reissue. :p

And all US produced instruments will now be manufactured in Antarctica. A real loss for those who prefer 'warm' tone.

Probably just in hang out mode until after NAMM or maybe even switching manufacturers. However, it make absolutely no difference how "awesome" something is unless it turns a profit. Corporations aren't in the business of being awesome. They are in it to make money. I, for one, am OK with that.
